A Deeper Impact

Georgetown has a long history of working for the common good not only through research, scholarship and education but also through dialogue. Our location near the Capitol allows us to deepen our relationships within the center of influence that DC represents and, with that, our impact — through convenings, partnerships, and innovative community-based work.

Exploring Issues From All Angles

We gather people for productive discussions — from the McCourt School’s international, cross-sector panel on leveraging digital infrastructure in Latin America to Georgetown Law’s AI Governance Series, which assembles experts, lawmakers and business leaders.

Adding Our Values-Based Lens

We bring Georgetown’s commitment to the common good to bear on conversations of global significance. One example: Our interdisciplinary Tech & Society initiative explores ethical guardrails for emerging technologies like AI.

Bridging Partisan Divides

Forward motion depends on people working together across differences. The McCourt School hosted young lawmakers from both sides of the aisle to collaborate on policy solutions. Future Summit is just one way we work to bridge divergent perspectives.

A Testimonial

“DC has a rich community of scholars and policymakers working on environment and sustainability, and as leaders in that community, from the Capitol Campus, we will both develop innovative approaches to this complex topic and convene others from a variety of perspectives to engage in productive dialogue..” —Dean Peter Marra, Earth Commons

Progress Through Action

Washington is where the DC ecosystem converges: government, law, healthcare, international business, NGOs and major nonprofits. Because each of these sectors impacts progress toward a more equitable, healthier and environmentally sound future, we work with each of them, contributing research and thought leadership.
