Starting a Zoom Class Meeting From The Classroom
Below are instructions for teaching a Zoom Synchronous session from the classroom (Faculty and Participants simultaneously in the classroom and online via Zoom)
Before Your Class Date:
- Complete the Classroom Technology Support Request form to request assistance in advance of your class. You may also email caphelp@georgetown.edu in advance of class time to request assistance
- Attend a classroom technology training with IST prior to the semester and/or review the Canvas Zoom Conferencing Tool documentation
- You can use Zoom Conferencing within your Canvas course site to create and share Zoom meeting for potential participants.
- Communicate with your guest or student who will be joining via Zoom
- *Students will use the same Zoom Conferencing link in the Canvas course site to join the session
At the Start of Class
- Turn the room AV system on using the touch screen on the wall.
- You will need to Sign in to your Zoom account using the Zoom application on your device.
- Launch your Zoom session from your device.
- From the Classroom interface on the iPad or interactive whiteboard select “Join Meeting” and type in your meeting’s ID and then passcode; both of which can be found by clicking on the shield icon in the upper corner of your Zoom meeting.
- Your remote students/guests should use the same Zoom Conferencing link to access your Zoom classroom.
- If you are using Power Point presentations or wish to present materials that are projected on the classroom screen, make sure to share your screen using the Zoom controls.
- Should faculty have issues during class (or just before), call 202-662-ZOOM for immediate assistance.
