We look forward to hosting your event at the Capitol Campus! Please note that at this time we are not holding external events. All events located at the Capitol Campus must be sponsored by a Georgetown department/unit. We expect this to change in the future so please check back frequently for updates.
How to Book an Event
If you are a member of the McCourt School of Public Policy community, please contact mccourtevents@georgetown.edu to inquire about event scheduling. If you are a member of the Law Center community, please contact lawscheduling@georgetown.edu to inquire about event scheduling or visit their website.
If you are a member of the broader Georgetown community, but not part of the McCourt or Law Center communities, we encourage you to log into EMS and preview space availability for our two event spaces on the Capitol Campus. Web requests should be made directly in EMS. Please include facilities and AV/IT support needs so that we are able to review the full picture and confirm events in a timely manner. This is also the best way to understand the furniture inventory options and AV/IT capabilities of each space.
Back to TopAvailable Spaces
The Central Event Logistics Team is responsible for maintaining the following spaces:
125 E Street, Auditorium
This space is located on the lower level, accessible from both elevator banks or a monumental stair from the lobby atrium. It is a traditional auditorium style with fixed theater seating facing an elevated stage. Please note that no food or drink is allowed in the space.
- Maximum Occupancy: 423 persons
125 E Street, Capitol View Convening Space
This 9th floor space features a large wide open area that can be configured in multiple ways, including round tables and chairs for dining, or theater style for a lecture. The space also features a terrace with stunning views of the skyline.
- Maximum Occupancy: 334 persons
125 E Street, Classrooms
Classroom reservations are managed by the University’s Office of the Registrar. Please contact them for availability.
Hoteling
A limited number of hoteling options exist on the Capitol Campus, including workstations, private offices, and small huddle rooms. Spaces can be secured through GU Workspaces (via Zoom Workspaces). Directions are available on the Spaces website.
Back to TopAV/IT Support
It is critical that AV/IT support needs are shared as early as possible. The Capitol Campus’ in-house AV/IT team endeavors to support all events, but given the volume and complexity of events on any given day, you may be directed to use one of two external AV vendors.
These two firms have been approved by the University’s procurement team and are familiar with the buildings from previous work. Event organizers will be responsible for contracting with the vendor as well as meeting them onsite to arrange for access for set-up and break down.
Back to TopCatering
Aramark provides catering services on the Capitol Campus. They are located on-site at 125 E Street and will oversee set-up and breakdown. Once your space reservation is confirmed, please reach out to Danielle Kloke directly at kloke-danielle@aramark.com to make arrangements.
Back to TopCheck-In
- Internal Audiences – Georgetown community members with active GOCards have swipe access to Capitol Campus facilities Monday through Friday, 7:30am – 11pm. For large events exclusive to the Georgetown community, we recommend that the event organizer station someone in the lobby to direct event attendees as they arrive.
- External Audiences – If your event will include a large number of external guests, event organizers will be required to staff a check-in table for the duration of the event. Doing so will allow your guests to bypass registering via the tablet located at the officer desk, a process which takes a few minutes per person and is not feasible for a large number of attendees.
Parking
Georgetown community members who have parking passes can view reciprocity agreements on the Transportation website. At this time, unfortunately there is no visitor parking available. Nearby garages include:
- 601 New Jersey Ave NW (across from McDonough Hall)
- 200 Massachusetts Ave NW (Capitol Crossing) across from Law Library
We encourage guests to take advantage of public transportation (Union Station is two blocks east of the Capitol Campus) or campus shuttles. Schedules and route info can be found on the Transportation website.
Back to TopPoint of Contact
All event organizers are asked to designate one Georgetown team member to be the point of contact for the event. They will be expected to be on-site throughout the entire event, as well as before and after to meet any external vendors, if applicable, and ensure the space is left in the condition in which they found it.
Back to TopSchedule
At this time, we are accepting event requests through August 2025. Fall semester space bookings are expected to open sometime in late spring.
In terms of scheduling deadlines, please adhere to the following timeline:
- Minimum 6 Weeks Out – Initiate the event planning process. While this may seem excessive, doing so will allow the team enough time to review your event, understand your needs, and determine whether any external vendors are required or if in-house support can be provided.
- 2 Weeks Out – Finalize room set-up and space configuration.
- 2 Week Out – No changes.
Student Events
For the 2024-2025 academic year, students should coordinate with the student event teams housed within their own school/units. All events must be sponsored by a Georgetown administrator or faculty member who can assist with day of event support.
Back to TopVIPs
Please notify the events team in advance of any VIPs that you expect to be in attendance. This includes high level government officials, elected officials, etc. For any attendees that travel with their own security detail, it is critical that the events team receives advance notice so we can coordinate with the Department of Public Safety well in advance.
Back to TopWiFi
SaxaNet, with netID credential login, is available for Georgetown community members. GuestNet, not requiring netID credential login, is available for campus visitors.
